In the automotive industry, aluminum alloy is widely used, but the welding technology of assembling body panels or engine parts cannot use aluminum alloy. The reason is that when the aluminum alloy is heated in the welding process, the molecular structure of the aluminum alloy will cause the uneven flow of its constituent elements, such as aluminum, zinc, magnesium and copper, leading to the generation of cracks. At present, a welding aluminum alloy (AA 7075) is invented to solve this problem.

7075 refers to a commonly used alloy in 7 series aluminum alloy. The most common aluminum alloy is 7075 alloy, which is widely used in CNC cutting and manufacturing parts, suitable for aircraft frame and high-strength parts.

In addition, AA 7075 is also used in the manufacturing of smart phone frames and climbing hooks that do not involve the welding process.

Engineers at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) have developed a method for welding aluminum alloy (AA 7075), according to the nature communication. Titanium carbide nanoparticles were injected into AA7075 welding wire, and then nano reinforced welding wire was used as filler material between connectors. Using this new method, the researchers have made welded joints with tensile strength up to 392 MPa.
The appearance of 7075 aluminum alloy is only likely to be used in the mass production of automobiles or bicycles, because it is only a simple change. We need to work together for later development.
